Building with the Home Depot Foundation

DG is building a hog house for Haven Human with the support of the Home Depot Foundation.

Tuesday came with rain, but the DG team persisted and showed up to finish roofing & decorating the hog house. We started by reinforcing the ceiling beams.

Sam and Delfina built decorative shutters for the entrance while Phil sketched a mural on the side wall!

The rest of the boys helped put the metal roof panels on the roof, one by one, screwing them into the beams. It was a long process, but they got it done! And even when the rain came down, they didn't stop. We were so impressed!

It was incredible to see the finished product, and still David & Delfina will go back one more day to add paint to the mural and pick up all the scrap wood left about. Haven Humane is extremely grateful for the work the boys did! The final picture will post soon!

Our scripture of the day was:

“Now, the one who plants and the one who waters are equally important and on the same team, but each will be rewarded for his own work. 9 We are coworkers with God and you are God’s cultivated garden, the house he is building. 10 God has given me unique gifts as a skilled master builder who lays a good foundation. Afterward another craftsman comes and builds on it. So builders beware! Let every builder do his work carefully, according to God’s standards. 11 For no one is empowered to lay an alternative foundation other than the good foundation that exists, which is Jesus Christ! " 1. Corinthians 3:8-11

Meet our session heroes & sponsors:

Haven Humane Society | Since 1952, Haven Humane Society has been caring for lost, homeless and abused animals in the Redding area. Our founders recognized that city and county resources could not support our mission of providing shelter and humane care for all animals who come through our doors. Instead, these concerned citizens created a charitable non-profit organization that is privately funded by people who believe all our four legged friends deserve love and respect. https://www.havenhumane.org/

The Home Depot Foundation | The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, train skilled tradespeople to fill the labor gap and support communities impacted by natural disasters. Since 2011, the Foundation has invested more than $400M in veteran causes and improved more than 50,000 veteran homes and facilities. The Foundation has pledged to invest half of a billion dollars in veteran causes by 2025 and $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople through the Path to Pro program. https://corporate.homedepot.com/page/home-depot-foundation
