Program Curriculum
- 01
In this session, the boys kick off the season with fun team-building activities. They learn about what it means to be the light of the world & the light of the city. They build human light-towers with toilet paper, they play the 'stick' game as a team, and build blind identical towers using only verbal cues. They prepare prophetic thank-you notes for city leaders and session sponsors, and receive a challenge for the session ahead.
- 02
In this session, the team must use their creativity to solve problems out in nature. We will have a team rope walk and face other 'unexpected challenges' and work as a team to solve them, encouraging one another at every turn.
- 03
In this session, the group talks about the ultimate war hero of all -- Jesus Christ-- and how God exalted him into the highest place of honor for going to the lowest place possible for our sake. We talk about how the primal, biological emotional drive of anger helps us accomplish hard things, especially when sacrifice is involved, and how Jesus empowers us to go low with Him for victory. We play a big outdoor game, like Capture the Flag, with immunity rules for jail-breaking and do some other activities around the theme of 'sacrificing' for the win.
- 04
In this session, the team has to stay connected and celebrate each other during competing in our Minigame Championship. We will head out to Enterprise Park and talk about being one in the body of Christ with many parts representing it. Each game will help teach the strength of each person's differences and how Christ has called us to work together as one team.
- 05
In this session, the boys must decide how to use a gift card to Trader Joes as a team, shop on a budget, prepare a meal on their own, and host the parents at pickup, all within three hours!
- 06
In this session the group will talk about what it means to follow the voice of Jesus, the shepherd. We will do a scavenger hunt to follow clues to a final destination in the same way we follow the voice of God and the clues God gives us as we follow Jesus in our lives.
- 07
In this session, the boys get a once-in-a-lifetime tour of a helicopter airport & learn about how teams work together to get the chopper in the air. They play games & do activities, and ride in copters!
- 08
In this session, the boys head to the Shasta Lake and talk about how Noah built the arc in faith. The boys build their own ‘arc’ as a team with driftwood and as a prophetic act and then test their faith for fun by trying to set sail! They learn how they can use their faith to build the spirit through prayer and declaration.
- 09
In this session, the boys partner take on a local service project and work together that involves teamwork, woodworking, and engineering. This session was made possible by donations of woodworking tools by The Home Depot Foundation!
- 10
In the session, the group heads out into nature and learn some basics about using our senses to be alert to the hunt. They talk about how being successful in hunting requires the patience to 'wait for the kill', which is like in life, God's moments are always in rhythm with his plan even if it the wait seems long.
- 11
In this session, we talk about how to stay hungry in the spirit forJesus and following him like the crowd of 4,000 people in the Bible who were fed miraculously. We talk about how God can work with our 5 loaves and 2 fishes to satisfy us with a full life if we believe in him with a hunger-filled faith for MORE. In our game and activity, we learn about and test out basic survival skills of scavenging food in nature and catching fish.
- 12
In this session, the boys gear up in water-treading pants and feet slips and walk upstream to a spot where inner tubes are waiting for them. They learn how they are chosen & set apart to be God's, and this often feels like walking against the stream of the world. At the end they tube all the way back down the river.
